Use Google Earth to scope out the Region overhead. Bad areas will usually be located next to rusted train paths, factories, tire companies or landmarks that seem to be old and abandoned. This may not always be the situation, but it’s rare to come across manicured lawns next to a warehouse.
Check the Internet for images of the city or town. There will be a couple of pictures usually uploaded by businesses made to seem great, but the rest were usually shot by civilians. If you see a lot of graffiti or deserted buildings on those photos, it can be a dead giveaway that your preferred neighborhood is not for you.
When you have children, make sure that the college districts in the area have good reviews. Use the Internet to your advantage and see testimonials of the school districts and colleges from other parents. How well a school works is often dictated by the kind of people that occupy the areas.
